Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, is projecting a steep decline in gaming profits for the current fiscal year—even with the release of Elden Ring spin-off Nightreign.
The company anticipates a 60% drop compared to last year’s performance, a period bolstered by the massive success of Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. In an effort to mitigate the downturn, Kadokawa is betting on upcoming releases: Elden Ring: Nightreign, a multiplayer roguelite spin-off launching May 30, and the Tarnished Edition of the game, which will debut on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2.
